EORE Team Leader  

Location: Mokha

General mission

The Explosive Ordinance Risk Education (EORE) Team Leader (TL) is responsible for the effective and accurate management of HI Yemen’s EORE activities. The TL is also responsible for ensuring that the HI Quality Management system for QA/QC is maintained during activities including all relevant documentation.

The EORE component of the project will be responsible for all EORE activities, including the KAP surveys identifying populations at risk and delivering safety briefings to persons at risk on the dangers of EO who are living, travelling or working close to the hazardous areas. 

Missions / Responsibilities 

Responsibilities: 

1.    Organize, coordinate and supervise the HI team under your management:

  • To ensure organization, supervision and discipline of the team during the working day. 
  • To ensure deployment of the team and all resources required in accordance with the relevant procedures.
  • To plan the activities and responsibilities of all survey team members and manage their daily activities and movements in the field especially with regards to general work safety.
  • To accurately complete all site documentation in accordance with SOP’s. 
  • Ensure all teams are carrying out their activities to a high standard. 
  • Compile and maintain daily attendance sheets for the team according to HR procedures.
  • Identify any training needs of the field teams and relay these needs to the EORE Supervisor.

2.    EORE Operations:

  • To ensure adherence to the HI Standard Operating Procedures by all members of the team.
  • To supervise all field activities, ensure personnel and equipment are secured according to HI standards, before and during transportation.
  • To ensure the team members are correctly equipped, trained and briefed before any task.
  • To ensure all instruments and other equipment are well maintained and serviceable at all times. The Team Leader must be alert for malfunctions and defects and report these to the EORE  Supervisor immediately. 
  • To ensure the EORE Supervisor is kept informed of the team's equipment status.
  • To monitor logistics and maintenance issues at the team level (control of stores/equipment required for the team).
  • To provide direct supervision and safety to all visitors to a task area.
  • Conduct daily quality assurance and quality control inspections on the area of operations, as per Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Complete the daily report regarding the team’s activities according to internal and external reporting formats.
  • To help with the development of the national staff.    
  • To update and brief the team with all new information related to the project and activities. 
  • Attending training courses and periodical refresher training as directed and assist in the delivery of training courses to the team.
  • Assist with any regular internal and external Quality Assessments.
  • Ensure working efficiency is achieved through maximizing deployment of resources.
  • To ensure that only approved IEC material is used for presentations.

3.    Demonstrate willingness to improve professional competences and abilities to increase care:

  • Demonstrate motivation at work.
  • Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity building activities.
  • Respect each team member’s positions, work, and specialty.
  • Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor.

4.    Other tasks:

  • Any other tasked as directed by the EORE Supervisor
  • Frequently go out with the teams to assess and advise when necessary

Profile requirements:

Essential 

Qualification(s):    

  • High School
  • Preferably, the TL holds the GICHD EORE course certificate and also holds a certificate from HI’s own training courses.    

Experience (type and amount of experience):    

  • 2 – 3 years, particularly in surveys       

Skills (knowledge, abilities required for the position, refer to skills repository document) :

  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of survey techniques 
  • Able to work in and lead a team

Job Conditions

  • The salary will be defined according to HI’s existing salary scale
  • Based in Mokha 
  • 30 day leave/year + benefits (transport allowance, health insurance, life insurance)
  • The working hours are the following: 8:00 to 16:30 (with 30 minutes lunch break) from Sunday to Thursday.
